Piggy in the Middle

The ‘Roundstone Dive Festival’ took place in fine style last Saturday. The weather was beautiful, with blazing sunshine and blue skies the order of the day. Monty Halls had the crowds enthralled with tales of his global adventures, and happily shared his extensive knowledge of all things marine. Nigel Motyer, one of Ireland’s leading underwater photographers, presented some of his favourite photos all taken around the Emerald Isle. While Simon Berrow of the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group demonstrated their approach to whale, and dolphin refloating.  Scubadive West played an active part in the event. We conducted ‘try dives’ with almost thirty people throughout the day on Gurteen Beach. As the sun went down, the fun really cranked up a gear. Two local bands played late into the night, and much dancing and merriment was had inside the marquee. Earlier in the evening, a huge hog roast kept hungry appetites in check. All in all, a great day was had. Of course, the entire event was for a good cause. All proceeds will go towards the purchase of a pontoon for refloating stranded whales and dolphins on the west coast.

Well done to everyone involved.
