A ‘Spookily’ Good Advanced Openwater Course

What did you do for All Hallow’s Eve? We introduced six Advanced Openwater students to the magic of night diving. This Night Adventure Dive was one of the five dives our students undertook for their Advanced Openwater Course, which started on Saturday morning and finished on Sunday evening. Our cove always puts on a great show for night divers, and this night was to be no different. A photogenic John Dory posed admirably for Cillian Gray.

Some inclement weather conditions on Sunday precluded our usual Wreck Adventure Dive on the Julia T. However, we substituted this with an Underwater Naturalist Adventure Dive on Inis Barna, a dive site offering enormous diversity of marine life. Our six students recorded their sightings of vertebrates, invertebrates and plant life on dive slates.  A  pod of bottle-nose dolphins in a feeding frenzy ensured a memorable boat trip to the dive site.

Congratulations to Aaron O’Grady, Viviane Kaier, Lloyd Mc Cann, Brendan Kelly, Conor Mc Carthy and Aonghus O’ Hiarnain; our newly qualified Advanced Openwater students.
